Patented Potential
October 6th, 2005 Edit
This is the aforementioned idea of using the millions and millions of patents that are simply going unused. I saw a program the other day that outlined a cheese grater/mouse trap/fly paper. The idea is to comb through these so-called “bad” ideas and begin to produce some of these products for the purposes of novelty items. It would be an internet store or even a store-front much like Spencer Gifts. We would make most, if not all the items as a special edition and/or limited edition. I am sure there would be a nominal royalty fee that would be paid out to the patent holder (if they are still under patent), but what the hell. People are always looking to be different and to have the newest, latest and greatest thing. We are going to produce old ideas that were not that great, not that new, and certainly not the latest; we are going to capture a moments in time.
You are not just buying some item, you are buying a peice of Americana.

My work friend Greg once bought an old patent to these miniature cars that crash and tried to get some Nascar action going on them, but then Big E died and they backed out. Not sure why? But anyway the potential is there and you never know when an old stupid idea will catch on with these kids these days. Lets bring back slap bracelets man!
