Hi Stan -
Came to check out the dome.
I have an important announcement to make. I have purchased a MacBook Pro and I’m planning to move my life on to it. I decided after working on Microsoft based OS’s for many years (I worked on Microsoft’s campus on the early builds of Windows NT), the Mac is the way to go for what I do these days.
I’m not sure if this is revolutionary enough, but I thought I would throw it up for public consumption.
I’m also trying to introduce capitalistic business practices here at SIU. Wish me luck.

Hey Peter,
Congrats on the purchase. I have often toyed with making the switch myself, but I gotta tell you, I need the right mouse button for shortcuts. I am lazy.
Good luck on the capitalistic business practices. I have often wanted to write a huge diatribe on why it is hard for Carbondale to keep talent, but basically it comes down to this: There are not that many Peter’s / BG.com’s in C’dale. What they need is about 12 of them.
I think that is why I decided not to stay, because I thought, what if things did not work out at BG.com? Where the hell would I go?
What you should do is hire twelve different people to be paid entrepreneurs. You pay them about 35,000 for a one year contract and give them about $50,000 in capital to try and kick start a business. If the business is profitable (or at least on it’s way) after the year, they get stock in the company and a 5% raise and contract extension.
Hell you could probably make this a reality TV show, even.
